The new self-titled album by Corrosion of Conformity has been released on the Candlelight Records Bandcamp. This is metallic hardcore with sidesteps into Sabbath-y dirges and sludgy Southern metal. COC is a three decades old band, as this review from The Obelisk puts it: these songs essentially distill 30 years of natural and genre-transcending progression into a cohesive set of 11 tracks. The production is sharp, Josh Haun from That's How Kids Dies succinctly describes it here:
The album sounds like three dudes playing in a room together, but these three dudes have a killer set-up where each instrument is perfectly audible and comfortably occupies its own space within the mixThe playing is tight, Josh concludes:
COC play with the skill of the seasoned musicians they are, but with a violence and vigor that bands a third of their age wish they were capable of mustering.
